Now starts up and enters game fine. Haven't had time to play fully yet but basic movement, commands, windowed mode and full screen all work flawelessly.
Needed Proton 9 to get it to start, complained about shader versions without that.
Frame rate dips are noticeable in action scenes and debilitating to quick reactions.
Runs out of the box with Proton 5 on Debian 10 (Buster) and amdgpu open source drivers.
Flickering on startup, this goes away when changing the quality mode. For some reason only happens in the mode you start the game with and not any of the others.
Frame rate is obviously lower than native and can drop down as low as 12fs at intensive points but disabling PhysX and Tesselation helped a little. These happen on all quality settings so there's not much to be gained by running at a lower quality if your GPU can handle it for most of the time.
