Works perfectly out of the box with the exception of the controller (required to play). To get the xbox controller to work I had to set the "Steam Input Per-Game" setting to "Forced off".
Played through the first and part of the second area. Everything was flawless down to the error/crash on exit (which apparently happens on Windows as well). No tweaks, just running out of the box.

Unplayable since the latest update on 29 November. Crashes SteamVR during start with an error -203. No known fix.
Game flow is broken, so completly unplayable.
Normal game flow is completely broken. As with previous reports, the notes still disappear after about 20 seconds into a song and everything becomes an instant miss. Boat keeps going forward and backward until you inevitably fail.
The boat movement/disappearing notes issue seems to have been fixed in Proton Experimental recently. Perfectly playable now.
There are some stutters and lag spikes in places, but these are also observed on Windows.
Near perfect experience.
So far I found only one minor issue, the video playing on the monitor during the introduction cut scene was missing. Probably needs media framework, but it's really not worth it since the video doesn't actually provide anything useful to the game. Check it on youtube if you're curious.
Otherwise everything was perfect for me.
