Runs well, issue on 5.13 because of specific hardware and new changes in new version of proton. Temporary fix available.
On an optimus laptop (intel CPU + nvidia GPU combo), as of writing, 5.13 uses the files at /usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/
to figure out what GPU you have. The issue is that the intel iGPU is found before the nvidia GPU, so the game runs on the CPU instead, and runs but is unplayable, because of low framerate. So the temporary fix for now is to move all files out of that folder except for nvidia_icd.json
, so Proton and Vulkan can find only the nvidia GPU and run the game on it. What I did was move the files in a /usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/backup
folder in case I need them again.
Note that the game didn't work on other proton versions than 5.13, it would crash in the main menu on the "click any button" prompt. The game "worked" on 5.13, I could load the game and play, but the framerate was too low to be playable without the tweak mentioned here.
Did not test DX12.

Steam's new overlay crashes on Hunt, so I can't invite any friends to play. Friends can invite me though, and I can click on the invite from the steam friends outside the game without issue
just have to make sure you install the EAC "game" that will be in your steam library
Created a dxvk.conf
file in the game directory (steam/steamapps/common/temtem/dxvk.conf
) with the line dxgi.syncInterval = 0
in it, to disable vsync, as vsync was giving me freezes to the game every few seconds, that would last a few seconds
I have half a second of input lag or something like that. It makes movement clunky, but it's not an issue in combat.
I'm playing at a pretty constant ~20FPS, at low graphics. The game is in early access though, so I expect the game to get better with optimizations before the full release.
My default proton version (4.2-9) didn't work (no text, and the game was shutting down just after trying to tell me something that I couldn't read, probably letting me know that something was wrong and that the game would shut down). After changing the proton version to 4.11-12, the game works with the issues noted.
You can bend over backwards to get the game to work, but it will be a pain.
once in fullscreen I can't click anything with the mouse, so I can't change fullscreen to windowed again, or even start the game
The game randomly freezes or slows down, reguardless of graphic quality. happens more and more as you play
EAC is not a problem, but many weapons will crash the game when fired. As long as you only play some of the weapons, the game will work. The ship cannons will crash the game when fired though, so even if you restrict yourself, a lot of the game won't work.
The game is pretty unstable in general even on Windows, the game crashes or disconnects often.
