Proton-5.9-GE-6-ST GloriousEggroll
Official Valve Proton has broken/not working movement using keyboard, as well as the inability to paste invite codes into the game directly. Both of these things are not an issue with GloriousEggroll's Proton build.
When trying to change whether your game will be fullscreen, windowed or windowed fullscreen, the game may crash. Alt-tabbing while being in actual fullscreen causes a game crash that also overlays your whole X session, causing you to somehow execute the command pkill XTG.exe
on your host blindly.
Once you manage to set the option, never touch it again.
Easy Anti-Cheat added.
Easy Anti-Cheat was added, causing the game to show "Anti-Cheat not initialized" on the main menu when trying to start a game. Too bad, this game was running perfectly with Proton.
Game runs at pinned 144 fps on my hardware on max settings (except for reflections, which are off).
Mouse cursor would show up when moving camera, limiting camera movement to screen bounds. Not sure if game bug or only a bug in combination with wine/Proton. This didn't impact gameplay too much, however.
Runs perfectly out of the box. Always 60+ fps on Very High graphics preset on my RX 480. == Keep in mind that random stuttering is a bug in the game itself, usually happening after changing graphics settings. So if you need to change your graphics settings: Save, change the settings, close out of the whole game and load back in. That should prevent random stuttering. ==
Native version no longer has online multiplayer, but Windows version runs excellently via Proton.
Runs bad on even the lowest graphics settings. Disabling Esync only borked clicking on buttons and did nothing otherwise, disabling D3D11 let the game refuse to launch, and using WINE D3D11 slightly improved the performance. Additionally to low framerates, I also had massive input lag. Absolutely unplayable.
Applies to Proton versions: 3.16-7 Beta, 3.16-4, 3.7-8 Beta, 3.7-8
Added SDL_VIDEO_MINIMIZE_ON_FOCUS_LOSS=0 %command%
to the launch options in Steam. For AMD cards that support it, I recommend using RADV_PERFTEST=aco SDL_VIDEO_MINIMIZE_ON_FOCUS_LOSS=0 %command%
.
I would start the game on a different workspace, so instead of alt tab, just switching workspaces instead works wonderfully.
Fully fixed by setting mouse polling rate from 1000Hz to 500Hz.
Followed instructions on this Reddit post to get the wmv cutscenes working, and it works perfectly without any performance issues.
