Disabled Steam Overlay
The game would often take multiple attempts to launch, when checking logs I saw a gameoverlayui
error, disabilng the Steam Overlay stopped the error and enabled the game to launch first try every time.
Fresh install of Manjaro, installed winetricks and proton tricks. Launched ED and let it crash, then run "protontricks 359320 -q dotnet40 win7" in terminal, launch game again and play!
Starts and runs fine, a little stuttery (but it was in Windows too!), joined the Linux Friendly server (thanks Freehive) and played a few rounds. Obviously EAC kicks you from EAC enabled servers.
Game crashes when connecting to a server and during "Asset Warm Up" on Beautiful settings.
With Super Potato settings you can connect to a server but you will suffer unplayable graphical artefacts.
Kicked due to anti-cheat when connecting to a match due to new R73 update.
Crashes also happen on Windows, started with R68? and R73
Using Proton 7.0-6 works with R73
Works again with R76
Reminds me of the old days playing UT2K4!
Could not select microphone input device
Could not set resolution
After alt-tab'ing, the menu buttons would be lower then where you would have to click making navigation a little tedious.
No issues with anti-cheat.
Lots of fun and portals add an interesting element to the game.
Fresh install, started straight up, but in low resolution window mode. Changed to fullscreen and 1080p. Runs 30-60 FPS on medium settings but can be choppy when spawning in and stutters occasionally during gameplay. Otherwise stable.
Great game that I have been playing as my go to for the last couple of weeks.
Once or twice audio went out of sync possibly due to alt+tab'ing constantly.
Can stutter during gameplay, some maps not optimised well.
No issues with EAC. I upgraded from a 1050ti to Vega 56 and performance is still not great. This is not entirely because of proton or linux, but the game is still in Alpha and runs poorly on good hardware on Windows too.
