This game brings me back....nostalgia at its best... game works perfect on Linux with Proton.
You need to choose directx, and not opengl otherwise there will be artifects.

it is amazing game. works great on Linux with Proton. loading takes little longer, but ones textures are loaded, works like a charm

Very cool game, works on Linux with Proton just as it would on windows, perfect... fps is little higher even than on windows.
