The out-of-the-box and official version of Proton works very well, practically identical to the Windows version in terms of performance, however using Proton GE 9-27 it has been running with a 20% increase in FPS.
The fonts in the launcher seem slightly hard to read and quite jagged, but it seems functional, updating correctly and unpacking as usual.
The latest official versions of Proton often present problems with the mouse cursor and crashes in the game store, with 6.3 being the only reliable version, despite a huge gap in performance. The last Proton GE versions have the same problems.
My solution was to use the old Proton-7.3-GE-1 version, which was the last GE based directly on WINE and not on Proton Experimental. The FPS seems to be better, also the rendering speed works like Windows. The launcher seems to have slightly broken fonts and menus, but it's perfectly functional.
Steam version has the same problems as the non-steam version
The game has not abandoned the kernel-level anti-cheat, which continues even in the Steam version. It is unplayable and should remain so, there is no rumors or intention of changes from the developers.
