The game runs without problems. I left all graphic settings to high but, even if the game reaches 60 fps it deeps under 50 sometimes.
Set display refresh rate and FPS limiter to 50
By setting the system refresh rate and fps limiter to 50 you will have a smooth experience (high settings) and nearly 3 hours of battery life.
Because of the major bug that happens after you finish the intro scene, you can't finish the game.
I set 40 FPS and graphics preset to medium.
Subtitles are very small. This is a issue that happens also when playing on big screens.
If the wifi is on, the game will become unplayable.
After finished the intro part, the game soft lock into an "screen/texture" error. You will hear some noises but the game will not proceed, making it unplayable.
Tried also Proton GE-7.30 and same bug shows up.
In my case, every time I tried to start the game, this message was appearing:
"The following component(s) are required to run this program:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime"
To fix this, I installed the Visual C++ 2015-2019 libraries through the Protontricks tool downloaded from the Discover App.
- Open Protontricks
- Select Man of Medan
- Select "Select the default wineprefix"
- Select "Install a Windows DLL or component"
- From the list, select the "vcrun2019" package and click OK.
Even if it will trow some warning, keep going and it should install the libraries.
*I followed this video to change general Steam Deck performance, so your experience could differ from mine: https://youtu.be/od9_a1QQQns
Game = Graphic Quality Preset : Medium, Resolution : 1152 x 720, Cap FPS to 30 : Yes
Steam Deck = Limit TDP : 11, Upscale filter : FSR
Game was on 30 FPS most of the time, but in rare occasions could deeps to 25. QTEs scenes had no problems.
After I saw some new reports here on protondb I tried this game again.
In my case, I had to deal with the C++ runtime error that luckily I was able to fix thanks to the Protontricks app but apart from that, I just had to set Proton Experimental.
I finished an entire playthrough without any issues.
For a stable experience, I suggest enabling the 30 FPS limiter and set the Medium or Low preset in the game options.
The game works great on Steam Deck, right out of the box!
