Some textures remain washed out, even with ESYNC and FSYNC disabled.
Changing the value of TextureStreamingMemoryLimit in Bioshock2SP.ini found at ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/409720/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/BioshockHD/Bioshock2/ from the default 512 to 2048 seems to fix this for the most part.
There's almost a full second of input latency in the main menu when using Vsync. The latency isn't as bad in-game, but still noticeable and bad enough to make the hacking minigame too challenging.
Turning off Vsync in-game and using vk-layer-flimes to limit the framerate fixes this and gives you more flexibility if you're on a lower refresh-rate panel.
Occasional stuttering and frame drops upon entering a new area. The game will freeze for 2-3 seconds when pausing for the first time after getting in-game, pausing and resuming works as expected afterwards until the next restart.

Audio stutters occasionally
Characters' hair appears black under certain lighting conditions. Map screen occasionally renders incorrectly.
Framerate periodically drops down to 10-ish for a couple seconds, then climbs back up. Enabling V-sync seems to solve this issue.
This game notoriously dislikes hyperthreading. If you're experiencing severe performance issues, you might want to disable this feature in your BIOS. Alternatively, set the variable D3D11MultithreadedRendering to 1 in your GamerProfile.xml located at ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/220240/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Far Cry 3/ Enabling this apparently causes stability issues on Windows (not tested this myself), however, it seems to be completely fine on Linux. I've played for 8 hours so far and only experienced one crash.
Requires PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 to launch at all, otherwise game crashes before getting to the menu.
There's a 1-pixel wide white border on the bottom and right side of the minimap.
Some shadows and lights are only visible from certain angles around the Hove Beach area - unsure whether this is due to Proton or an actual bug in the game, I've never noticed this before, so I'm throwing it in here.
There's copious amounts of Z-fighting on buildings in the distance - lowering the view distance makes this less noticeable.
Some shadows at night stretch out to world origin - this seems to happen completely randomly.
There's about a half-second delay on inputs in the menus. Normal gameplay is not affected.
Average framerate is kinda poor - I should be able to maintain 60FPS, especially with the settings dialled back, yet I still find the game hovering around a cool 35-50, never quite getting to 60 frames, no matter what graphics settings I use. Cranking the settings up and limiting the framerate to 30 seems to provide the most enjoyable experience.
There's occasional microstutter, which is exacerbated by setting shadows to very high and night shadows anywhere above medium.
The stability of this game is questionable at best, even on Windows... at least that was the case back in 2012, when I last played this on Windows. Regardless, I experienced two consequent crashes to desktop during a 3-hour session, both during the mission "Bleed Out". Initiating the mission a 3rd time, however, did not yield a crash.
A fair few reports on here suggest using D9VK for a better overall experience. However, using Vulkan on Manjaro, with this game specifically, does not seem to work, causing it to freeze and/or crash before getting to the main menu.

Out of the box UE4 Prerequisites Setup will always fail. To work around this, replace UE4PrereqSetup_x64.exe in POSTAL4/Engine/Extras/Redist/en-us with any win32 executable that returns a success code - a simple "Hello World" executable will do just fine.
Proton-GE 6.10 provides a slightly better experience than vanilla Proton 6.3 - albeit the latter works, too, some cutscenes and lighting effects appear to be broken.
Occasional Z-fighting occurs on some surfaces - unsure if this is due to Proton or the alpha state of the game
Switching fullscreen resolution from 1080p or 720p while ingame to any other resolution in between causes a black screen. Switching resolution works as expected in the main menu. Unsure if this is due to Proton or the alpha state of the game
Game largely runs as expected on my hardware, however the framerate tanks to the single-digits upon opening the map and stays there after exiting the map screen. The only reliable fix is exiting to the main menu and reloading, afaik.
Proceed with caution! It works perfectly fine under Proton, but is still a terrible PC port
Gentlemen of the Row mod
NPC speech crackles and sometimes cuts off abruptly when the game tanks below 30fps - which is somewhat frequent, even on modern hardware. This also goes for story NPCs that spew dialog while driving around, but not for phone calls you get in-game.
Not sure if this is due to Proton or a poor PC port.
Player skin texture / shader seems to be corrupted upon exiting and re-opening the game, as seen here. The right half of the player model appears normal, however the skin on the left side is black or green depending on the lighting. Entering the character creator and changing player properties (aka visiting Image As Designed or starting a new game) fixes this issue until the next restart.
Some inputs don't register when the game drops below 30fps. Unsure if this is due to Proton or a poor PC port.
At one point all of my savegames got corrupted and settings reset to default following a crash and subsequent re-launch of the game, losing me about 7 hours of progress. So not only save often and keep multiple savegames, but also be sure to make frequent backups of them aswell!
This game is very prone to random crashes, often at the worst possible time, like right after completing a mission or upon exiting the character creator. Sometimes it'd crash to desktop while chilling in the pause menu for seemingly no reason at all. Sometimes I can go 3-4 hours without a single crash, sometimes it crashes to desktop every 20 minutes. It's extremely unpredictable, so do save a lot and save often!
I am aware that there is a native Linux version of this game, however, this native version would not work on my system - however, it's produced the strangest bug I've ever seen, whereby the intro videos would only play if the mouse is moving, and then crash; this can be seen here.
Take note that this PC port is quite shoddy to begin with. While the game originally shipped with a 31fps cap, this has been patched out over the years, this does not mean it can maintain a stable 60 or above - quite the contrary, as the framerates fluctuate wildly between the mid-40s and low 90s on my system without vsync. Turning vsync on in-game provides a smoother experience, at the cost of a bit of input lag.
Gentlemen of the Row mod is a must! Not only does it pack a whole bunch of additional content, it also makes the game a whole lot more stable from what I can tell.
This one's completely borked, both Proton and the native version
As others have mentioned before me, Valve's CEG DRM doesn't work too well (as in, at all) with Proton. It goes as far as bringing up the prompt to select DX9 or DX10/11, then silently exits. Native version also crashes during the intro sequence, before getting to the main menu.
GOG version works fine on Wine, currently that seems to be the best way to play this one on Linux.
