The game runs fine with no serious issues, both via Proton and using the native Linux version.
Running the game with Proton 8.0-3 in the SteamOS 3.5 preview resulted in the occasional loud audio glitch during most cutscenes. Switching to Steam Linux Runtime resolved the audio issue, and also noticeably improved input latency and consistency.
Aside from poor fps, the game was very playable, and performance was not a significant obstacle to game progression.
Some button prompts are very small.
Periodic crackling, usually in time with fps drops.
Gamepad button prompts use Nintendo Switch button layouts. Gamepad confiuration options are unavailable, but seem to be in the works.
Normal and High profiles average a very uneven 15-25 fps. Low jumps to 55-60fps.
Would not launch without manually setting a proton version, but worked equally well with all versions of proton that I tried, including the current Steam Proton 8.0-2
Launches and runs well. Some bugs, but it's an Indie title on launch day. Most issues were controller related, so keyboard mileage may vary.
Button Mapping seems to occasionally switch between two different configurations at random (i.e. Jump button switches between A and B on Xbox controller for no apparent reason)
Initial loading from Main Menu into game is very slow. Game runs smoothly once loaded.
Game and DE crashed when game was executed with prime-run
in Hybrid Intel/Nvidia environment. The game seemed to use Nvidia graphics without prime-run
though.
Phantom directional inputs with Dualsense controllers. No issues with other controllers. I also encountered a persistent camera glitch early on in the game that made it difficult to proceed.
Finally, the social links on the main menu are very slow to open (several minutes from click to opening a browser). If you click multiple links back-to-back, they will all open one at a time, several minutes apart.
prime-run gamescope -efY -H 1080 -r 60 -- mangohud %command%
Regular stuttering due to shader compiling. Expected to improve over time.
