Could not get the game to start
First attempt it explicitly required me to update my nvidia drivers (to 525 from 520) via a popup on starting the game, which i did then rebooted. After which it seemed to just die very quickly when starting the game. Tried a handful of things, default settings, proton experemental, proton GE, 'VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr %command%', all seemed to have the same result.
Did not want to allow setting the resolution in borderless window mode, and the default resolution was tiny compared to my monitor. Fullscreen worked as normal thankfully.
To launch currently, you need to go to the proton expirmental app (search your library for proton experimental) and in its properties enable the bleading edge beta, and set the game to use proton experimental. See: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/3291 There is also apparently a memory leak, though i did not experience issues related to that.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
On initial launch, the main menu was near unreadable, managed to get into graphics settings and dropping the render type to full dynamic lighting which resolved the issue
Game was completely unplayable using proton experimental or proton 7.0-6, would not even get to the startup videos, it appeared to be an issue with DX11 command not being implemented. Was able to get to the menu with proton GE though, and once i did and got the settings right, i was able to re-launch the game without any tinker settings. I did try to tell it to not use DX11 in the settings file manually first, but had no luck.
