Mouse would leave the game when reaching the edge, prompting the game to auto-minimize.
BattleEye seems to sometimes fail to initialize, sometime work. I can see no rhyme or reason.
On a multi-monitor setup, the issue with the game auto-minimizing when the mouse leaves the edge of the game can be annoying. I don't think it is game ruining, though.
I set the graphics preset to "Very High", started the NATO showcase from the main menu and started driving around all the vehicles there. Under those conditions, fps will drop down to about 45 at the worst. While this is disappointing given the relative ages of the game and my graphics hardware, it is no worse than under Windows,
For me, the game just works flawlessly out of the box. I have never actually played this under Windows, so I cannot compare, but most of the time, it was stuck at 60 fps (the refresh rate of my monitor) anyway.
The multiplayer works as well as it does in Windows. While the multiplayer mode still has more issues than an MMO ought to have, that's down to the game itself, not Proton or Linux.
The game takes significantly longer to start up compared to Windows. I estimate about 2 minutes.
Other than that, the game is running as well as it does on Windows. In one particular aspect, it's even running better: On Windows, when using an AMD GPU, the game often shows a very annoying bug, where shadows are flickering all over the place, completely changing their position from one frame to the next. That particular bug seems to be gone under Proton.
FPS might also be a bit better, however, with a game like this, that can be hard to judge. It is dependent on too many random factors that are hidden from the player and/or not under the player's control. That said, since the developers rebooted some of the game servers earlier this month, FPS has been stuck at 60 for me. (The upper limit of my monitor with V-Sync enabled.)
There is one unusual thing compared to Windows, which is frequent uncaught exceptions from lsteamclient.dll
Occasional uncaught exceptions that do not happen on Windows
When there are many other players in the vicinity, there are frequent occurences of uncaught exceptions that do not happen under Windows and that cause a game state that does not sync with other players properly anymore.
Works fine, including the launcher
The game works completely fine for me on Linux. No issues at all.
The games works absolutely fine.
The game works fine when running the Win7 version. (The starter for this game let's you choose between 64-bit Win7 and 64-bit Win8.1/Win10)
I am running the current beta release of the game, which at the point of this writing was 0.9.0.11.
I did not add any command line switches for startup. Unfortunately, this game is a bit unstable even when running on Windows, so stability will be a bit hard to judge. In my estimation, crashes don't happen more often than they do on Windows.
With the version for Win8.1/Win10, you get massive audio distortion as soon as an actual game is started or loaded, to the point where it hurts the ears when wearing headphones.
