-window-mode borderless
Trying to launch the game in fullscreen did not work with any of the proton compat. modes. Could hear audio, but the game started as a small black box.
Upon adding -window-mode borderless
as an argument in the launch options, the game loaded and I could play normally. This might be a fix for those who've experienced the same issues on a system similar to mine.
Quick loading a game last saved by my Windows installation caused the game to freeze the moment I clicked W or performed any other movement. Loading an older save did not yield the same result.
I notice that there are many suggested fixes for this game -- mine is one of many potential resolutions.
Worked out of the box with RTX 2060 Super on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
Some weak flickering - primarily visible outside of movement or other actions.
Game runs smoothly. Apart from some minor screen flickering, I see no difference between the Linux version and the Windows version of this game. No issues during startup, no problems with controls, audio or networking.
+com_skipIntroVideo 1
The game launched in the background but with no icon in the tray out of the box. I had to kill the process via Steam. The audio played. Selecting an older proton ver and adding the launch argument (+com_skipIntroVideo 1) did the trick.
Had issues on Ubuntu, works flawlessly on Fedora
I tried every trick in the book to get this running on Ubuntu, but to no avail. After installing Fedora (KDE Spin to be specific), however, it launched without issue and I could play without any need to tinker. I believe it was most likely related to the older NVIDIA drivers on the Ubuntu installation I had (535.183.01).

I have a fairly weak system by today's standards, and given that I have an NVIDIA card, I was quite surprised to find that I’ve been able to play the game — albeit on low settings — in 1440p with a frame rate from 45-60.
While the game did start without using launch arguments, it ran much more smoothly with them in my experience.
Would I recommend this game on a system like mine? Not if you’re after the best graphics, obviously, but it does work.
Works out of the box
I haven't had the time to play it for long, but I had no problems with starting the game and playing the first tutorial mission. The prologue also worked as it should. No issues with video or audio. Both my Dualsense and Xbox controllers were detected and usable with correct glyphs.
Seems to work right out of the box w/o tinkering
Installed, played without any need to tinker. Didn't even have to enable Proton compatibility.
Seems to run perfectly out of the box.
I played the demo on Windows 10, and the experience, ie. stability and "ease of use" with the full release was just as smooth on Ubuntu 24.04.
