Controller was not detected at first, but after setting the steam input to disabled on DRL (right click on properties and go to controller tab), I was able to set up my Taranis QX7 and it works perfect! Just use steam input to set axes!
No major issues that I have found. Just make sure to set up controller with steam input, and then for some reason disable it for DRL. Dont know why, but that did the trick for me!
Had to install a custom fork of proton + some other tweaks. Typical gamer would lose interest.
Proton -7.1-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
I used https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom and that worked. Did not work with any other version of proton. Tried mf-install (https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install), first but that didn't work. I had been able to get the game running on Proton 6.3-7 a few months ago, but it didnt seem to work on 6.3-8 now.
Taranis QX7 was not detected. Had to map controls using steam's controller settings, then it worked. Also had to disable steam input for some reason in DRL sim -> properties -> controller for it to work.
