It's very hard to make it work. And since I tried to make it work on a NTFS partition, it only make it harder. Here is what I did:
Transfer the game to a ext4 partition.
start it one-time with Proton 5.0 like was told here (https://gist.github.com/ANBAL534/4f1693536f17b75ebcc8016e0d4cc071)
execute those commands in order: 1: protontricks 244210 -q dotnet472 2: protontricks 244210 -q d3dcompiler_43 d3dx11_43 3: protontricks 244210 -q vcrun2015 win10
3-1. don't worry if it takes a lot of time to install dotnet and the others. It took me hours.
3-2. I also did some backups of the pfx folder in some steps. Not needed but I recommend so you feel confortable to try something different (if you change the proton version, like I did, it may "break" the pfx folder, so the backups were very useful).
- do the content manager steps mencioned in the link above.
4.1 seems like some versions of Custom Shaders Patch will crash on loading if you have Car Instruments actived. But it's working on my game with CSP 1.78.
4.2 SOL is working.
I didn't tried online yet, but probably it will work since I was able to find servers.
Well, that's is. This was to me the hardest game to run through proton. And remember to not use a NTFS partition on Linux. You can message me through steam if you want (same name and profile image there).

For some reason, Direct3D renderer will always be with 16 bit colors with newer proton versions, and I recommend playing with Direct3D since it's a lot better than Software Rendering. Through Proton 5.13-6 I was able to run it with Direct3D renderer with 32 bit colors.

No problem at all!
