Flawless, easy, no-fuss fun with online multiplayer with friends!
I didn't try local (couch co-op) but the start-up menu accepted inputs for two of the characters on screen (WASD for one and Arrows Keys for another) I used mouse and keyboard and did not try controller, so YMMV with respect to other control schemes or local multiplayer.
As far as an online party game for you and your friends? It was excellent and flawless using default latest Proton and absolutely nothing else.
Used current release version of Proton (7.0-6) for initial launch and it worked perfectly from the beginning, no issues whatsoever.
Game plays perfectly smooth with no tinkering needed whatsoever
Using latest GE Proton (7-35)!!
Decided to randomly try with the new GE version and launched and everything ran perfectly with no further configuration. Initial resolution was really low but easy enough to fix in settings. Game ran pretty much exactly how it does for me on Windows, ~90FPS dipping to 70s during hectic moments on mostly maxxed @1440P
I joined a few public official partnered servers and completed a full invasion map from start to finish after loading in from the last match and didn't experience any slowdowns or crashes or issues with EAC.
