Considering the fact that Cities: Skylines didn't really run at all on the Steam Deck and crashed the deck due to Memory Usage, Cities: Skylines 2 runs acutally quite well. With Graphics set to Very Low, you can expect between 15 and 30 FPS in a 15k People Town, which is enough for a city builder on the go and actually feels quite good and fluid on the deck imho.
Steam deck and proton are all up to date. Reinstalling and verifing didn't help. The graphics tool can be accessed, but changes in there don't help.
Installed, started, connected XBOX Controller, everything worked fine, no stuttering, framerate was even a bit higher than in windows.
Sometimes you have to tap somewhere in the corner to position the invisible mouse coursor aways from ui elements, because it blocks controller inputs when it's on a menu item
Origin is a little bit annoying. But that's to be expected. When exiting the game you have to force close it from the overlay. Besides that it runs great
Tried multiple Steamplay Versions and also proton tkg and ge-custom
game doesn't launch and does not show a window at all. says running for a short moment and that's it
DXVK_CONF file with dxgi.customVendorId = 10de
Weird occasional stuttering. Vsync and FPS cap improved it.
It's not yet at a point where it's enjoyable. You have to play with low settings / capped framerate or deal with the crashes / stuttering
Runs fine when set to low-medium, with 30 or 60fps cap. Stutters a lot when fps uncapped / capped to high and also crashes in loading screens (the lower the settings, the less likely it seems to be to crash
Shows a little splash screen and crashed afterwards with Proton, Proton Experimental and also with Proton-GE
Also tried with PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1
PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr
When switching Windows game window might get black. ALT+TAB back to Game to fix.
Feels stuttery, even though the framerate is constantly approaching 60 on low settings.
The usual forza multiplayer problems also experienced on windows
Once the weird stuttering experienced even though the framerate is good, this could be a great experience.
The Icons for the controls in game where not shown correctly, they are just shown as the steam icon. However the default layout is great and can be viewed in steam input overlay.
The game doesnt show the correct controller glyphs, it just shows the steam logo. But you can just look them up in steam input settings and it's pretty eas to get used to. Default layout is great on deck.
Had to move the game from sd-card to internal storage and back once to get the compatdata folder to the sc card to download the game to it.
Medium Graphics settings seems to be okay giving 30ish fps with world streaming enabled.

-FastLaunch
The game cannot find any servers
Game seems to crash on launch sometimes, but adding -FastLaunch seems to fix this. Also, XBOX Login seems to be weird when using Microsoft Authenticator, it says to select the correct number on your phone but it does not display a number. So i just guessed until i found the correct number.
After the update published on 27th of April the game works fine now
You have to use the touchscreen for the initial graphics setting tool which pops up on launching. That's really the only complaint.
Slightly less performance than expected, running on Medium Settings with 70-90 FPS on an RTX 3080.
It crashed once in the first hour of gameplay, during the first tutorial. Did not crash again until now
Framerate on Medium Settings is about Equivalent to Framerate on Ultra on Windows on same Hardware
Poor performance with ocasional crashes (once or twice / hour)
About 20-60 FPS On Medium wher on Windows there would be about 70 FPS on Ultra
Does not work on Wayland. Loading anything crashes the game and steam. This does not occur when using Xorg.
Mutiplayer works just as expected
After playing some time on both windows and linux the performance does not compare well. On Windows the game feels great on Ultra settings (70-100fps) and using Steam Play dropping down to medium is neccessary and even that does not give stable 30fps.
Framerate on low settings is great and game looks good. Lowering it improves battery life and looks worse, but it's and ok conpromise. Overall playability is great
Using Proton 4.2 the Game just installs and runs perfectly on ULTRA, 60FPS, FXAA enabled, no problems notices :)
Game doesn't start. it just throws an error and continues to run in the background without ever closing
Don't play the native Version. Basically use any Proton Version and your Experience will be better.
Launching strait from Steam with no config changes, Steam will launch the native version of the game. However, it has loads of issues. It does not launch in the correct aspect ratio, the controls don't really work, it has no sound and the performance is bad. Switching to any Proton Version (recommend 7.0-2) makes this game run great on linux/deck.
