A typical gamer would have given up after this many crashes both in game and at startup.
Sometimes the whole screen goes black while moving the camera or lighting gets broken and makes game world quite dark. Both passes away in a few seconds. Nothing game breaking.
Using Vulkan gives me horrendous performance. DX11 mostly fixes the FPS issue in my case.
Game would crash at the start up for no reason at all. Also, sometimes when you use a door to enter another area in game the game crashes. I haven't found any fixes for both, but not touching anything input related seems to mitigate the startup crash. The error screen that popups has a title that says "Device_Lost".
Everything works perfectly with the launch option. DLSS works and game runs without performance problems.
eval $(echo "VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 mangohud %command%" | sed 's/Chivalry2Launcher.exe/TBL\/Binaries\/Win64\/Chivalry2-Win64-Shipping.exe/') %command%
Game appears to have a launcher that opens up as an empty transparent window. Launch arg. bypasses the launcher. Only problem I have had during my 5 hour bindge was a single crash that might as well be my fault, but I'm not sure. Other than that It run perfectly.
I didn't have to do anything besides enabling SteamPlay in the Steam settings to have an enjoyable gameplay.
Other than having to re-run the game after every match, it's fun and nice to play.
Game gets stuck on the "retrieving results" screen after a match and only solution so far is stopping the game from Steam and rerunning the game.
Windows exception | EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
Produces an error window and doesn't launch regardless of Proton versions that I tested from Experimental to 4.2.-9, and even Proton-GE_6.21
If you're in it for the singleplayer, sure, crashes every few hours won't bother you.
Game would crash randomly both in singleplayer and online. Crashes seem more frequent while in online, causing a lot of missons to fail.
Works and plays without any additonal tinkering.
Game is horribly old and not well designed. So, it has problems not related to Linux or Proton.
Achieved 100% completion using an Xbox One BT Controller without any problems. Game just works with minimal tinkering.
Proton-7.0rc3-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Cutscenes appear as this colourful bars that TV's used to show, which is a problem when games use Media Foundation stuff for cutscenes. Using Proton-GE is what I used to fix it.
