Crashed 3x in 4h. Approx once every 3 runs
Other users say disabling the Steam overlay eliminates crashing. Currently trying this myself...
Could be difficult for some
Played with Remote Play Together. Had some issues with certain analogue stick inputs no longer registering (opening Steam overlay seemed to fix it temporarily?) but infrequent
Without tinkering, the game won't load
Configure the graphics to your liking. I'm enjoying dynamic resolution (40fps target), High graphics preset. Sometimes gets a bit low res but very rarely drops frames below 40fps. Fixed resolution (1280x800) at High is about 35fps with drops. Fixed resolution at Highest preset is about 30fps with drops.
Had to set resolution to 1280x800 in the dialogue at launch to avoid ui scaling being game breaking. At this resolution, there are still some overlap issues but you can play the game fine
Mapping of A/B button is weird. In the "Garage" screen, both A and B can select a car to purchase but on an owned car, B will exit the screen. Confusing and I don't think it can be remapped
Lovely game, not great performance but can be overlooked if you do as little hoverbiking as possible.
Refresh rate at 40hz, in game frame cap at 24fps
Coincides with frame drops
24fps isn't great but it's very playable as many animations are actually less than 24fps so it fits the style. Many frames are dropped on the hoverbike though, so if you want to spend a lot of time biking, it isn't pleasant to play. Also I lost a lot of frames in the SW region and in the final ending sequence, often down to 12fps.
Recommended tweaks:
- System refresh rate at 40hz
- In game graphics to low
- In game fps cap at 24
Cutscenes show a black screen (e.g. when beginning the campaign) but can be skipped with start button and "skip"
Installed with Heroic, played as non-Steam app
Been playing in desktop mode in 1080p with FPS capped to 45, AA and rain detail turned down a bit. Frames are a bit choppy, often sitting in 30s indoors and dropping to 20s outside. Outside rain is the worst. No instability in 7h playtime though.
Installed via Heroic, played as non-Steam app.
Runs well. Changed all graphics to Medium to keep consistent 40fps
Played the Windows .exe that was available from Humble Games Collection (previously Trove). Added as a non-Steam game and launched with no other tinkering. A launcher for graphics shows but can easily be interacted with via the touch screen. Rest of the game runs flawlessly (some text is quite small)
Crashed a lot. So frequently in fact, that I couldn't even complete the first mission. 4x in 2h
Installed CryoUtilities and used recommended settings
Very unstable. 6x crashes in 2h until I installed CryoUtilities and it hasn't crashed in 2h since.
