After launch options set game runs fine. I encountered crashes occasionally for reasons also present on some Windows systems, but apparently occurs more often through Wine/Proton. Crashed more often in DLC, especially frustrating in General Knoxx where map is large and their is only one checkpoint. Regardless, completed game and DLC on Linux.
Game launched with launch options as follows: DO=(%command%); "${DO[@]/%Launcher.exe/BorderlandsGOTY.exe}" however constant mouse stuttering and input lag (despite 60fps) rendered the game unplayable. Also experienced no luck in importing save files from Borderlands GOTY, despite it being a relatively simple process. Did not test other versions of Proton / Wine, etc.
NOTE: Could not fix cutscene issue with MF Fix. If you have set it up successfully please pm me (https://steamcommunity.com/id/SlipSlapSlop/) and post clear instructions here on ProtonDB.
Game runs fine but no cut scenes renders game unplayable in my opinion.
Steps taken:
- Installed winetricks from Manjaro repos.
- Downloaded zip from Tonix Github: https://github.com/tonix64/python-installcab
- Ran winetricks mf d3dcompiler_43
- Ran install-mf-64.sh in game directory.
- Tested two versions of mfplat.dll from DLLme and Lutris (https://lutris.net/games/install/6805/view).
- Tried doing same process using 32-bit (rm -rf /home/user/.wine, WINEARCH=win32 wineboot, winetricks mf d3dcompiler-43, ran install-mf.sh and used both DLLs again.
Worked fine out of the box, as others have mentioned there are issues with the GPS navigation on iDroid however it did not pose an issue for functionality in my case (could always select drop locations even though mouse tracking was extremely poor). Rest of the game ran flawlessly. If others are experiencing issues with iDroid would experiment with very high sensitivity (perhaps setting up the opposite of a sniper button if it proves successful).
If anyone encounters issues where the game crashes immediately after first loading screen... I struggled immensely with the same issue. After extensive investigation the bug seems to be on Windows too and is something to do with the game being incompatible with programs using some other drivers (the Windows example was due some AirDroid equivalent program running on their PC), I believe mine was caused by an Anbox installation. Regardless, after testing the install on a LiveUSB and not encountering the issue I reinstalled Manjaro and it worked out of the box. Frames per second were slightly lower than expected despite trying all tweaks mentioned here on ProtonDB, but were generally playable 50-60fps regardless of settings @1440p (60fps stable with Dynamic Resolution enabled). Encountered some audio glitching (also apparent on some Windows installs) for example hearing Operators where they were not visible. Once restarted game to have NPC spawn where they were not before, and had one minor side quest fail to initiate after receiving quest dialogue. Completely playable and finished the game.
