So, EasyAntiCheat has a bug when used with glibc 2.36, which isn't used by most distributions. I use Void Linux, which uses glibc 2.36, and so whenever I launched the game, I'd get a 'hash' issue.
I had to manually compile a 32 bit version (Steam always uses 32 bit) of glibc 2.37 and use that. I didn't install it system-wide as that would cause issues.
- Download: 'http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/glibc/glibc-2.37.tar.gz'
- Create a folder to extract this into, such as
~/glibc-2.37
. - cd into that
~/glibc-2.37
folder tar zxvf glibc-2.37.tar.gz
, this will extract the archive with the glibc source code.cd glibc-2.37
mkdir build && cd build
../configure --prefix=/opt/glibc-2.37-32bit --enable-multi-arch --host=$LFS_TGT32
make -j4
sudo make install
(this will install to /opt/glibc-2.37-32bit rather than replacing system libs)- Run Steam with:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/glibc-2.37-32bit/lib steam
. This will force Steam to use the newly-compiled glibc 2.37 libs
Quite heavy lag at the start of the first game of a map. Probably caching, but fine after that first match.
If you're on Void Linux or any other distribution using glibc 2.36, you won't be able to play.
Does not launch on Archlinux or derivatives
Can't even get into the game. Tried Experimental, GE, everything, as well as switching DE. Does not load or open up.
Irritating stuttering, minor graphical bugs, freezes that make the game near unplayable whenever you move into a new area.
Proton-7.0rc2-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Proton-7.0rc2-GE-1
Disabling tesselation fixed issues with flickering textures on faces
Very bad stuttering and almost total freezes (up to 10 seconds of total freeze)
Need to force close as closing the game does not properly work.
A bit laggy, but very playable. The framerate issues seem to be on all operating systems, not just Linux.
General lagginess, seems to be the same for Windows.
Had to use 'bleeding-edge' beta for Proton Experimental to get the multiplayer to work.
Without using Proton Experimental's 'bleeding edge' beta, you wouldn't get multiplayer functionality.
Broken since latest update - flickering screen on Wayland and Xorg
Any, none seem to work
Currently unplayable. The game launches like usual (I had 70ish hours of game time), and then when it maximises to fullscreen, the entire game is flickering colours and boxes. I can't even see the menu (but I can hear the noises in the background).
Great experience out of the box.
Runs great, sounds great, hard not to recommend.
It runs alright without vsync. Occasionally lag, but very playable.
Definitely put this in borderless - you can't get back into the game otherwise.
On first boot on ultra settings, the game had severe stuttering. This went away on a restart.
Stuttering on first boot, was fine after.
Crashes when attempting to load into game
DXVK_HUD=full -skipintro
Main menu works fine, settings, scenarios. When loading into a scenario, the game will either get to a solid black screen or crash (sometimes both). Tried using Experimental, GloriousEggroll Proton, none seemed to use.
Runs beautifully on AMD hardware
Runs fantastically at Ultra, super stable and no issues with windowing or audio.
Had to use the Proton version to get mods working as the folders didn't seem to work in the "Native" version. Game runs better in Proton.
Works just perfectly. Only problem is that the in-game televisions don't load any content.
Runs a little sluggishly, although this seems to be the same experience with Windows too. It takes ages to load into the game (about 2 minutes on a 7200RPM HDD and a minute with an NVMe SSD).
Game hasn't crashed once for me.
