Proton runs out of the box. Additional Options menu also works.
Some dialogues terminated a bit too quickly (sometimes right as dialogue ends, or 1-2 times cut off), though might be programmer's oversight (See early Daedalic games).
once I clicked through a dialogue too quickly (skipped 2 lines almost instantly), resulting in the game not registering input anymore and thus softlocking itself. Might be fault of game engine overall. Game restart fixed it.
Prologue would not start, stating that a file is missing. However, not too important for the plot, nor very gameplay-intensive.
Indistinguishable from Windows build apart from menu issue. Doesn't automatically download Portal 2 with it, but not Proton's fault.
The Menu wouldn't accept mouseclicks and seems to think that there was a gamepad present, which wasn't the case. However it would still allow keyboard inputs. This resulted in me not being able to change graphics settings, as I'd need to click "Apply" for them to work.
Tested full run with gamepad. Runs smooth as butter. Occasional hiccup on 3rd world, but might be my own fault and is not gameplay-impeding.
mouse and keyboard not tested, but should work aswell.
With Tinkering game runs flawlessly. Game starting minimized on start is only a minor annoyance and will only happen at start of game.
LD_PRELOAD="" %command%
Game will always start Minimized. Will work as normal once maximised again. Might be due to Wayland and/or newer AMD hardware.
Mouse input would stutter afer about 1hr of playtime, as if mouse movement was only updated every 1/4th of a second or so. Might be caused by newer AMD hardware. Temporary Fix: restart game. Permanent Fix: Launch option "LD_PRELOAD="" %command%"
Using non-GE versions of Proton resulted in cutscenes not playing correctly (no video) as well as minor performance degredations (Light stuttering on certain moments, e.g. while exiting the ship on tutorial). Did not test gameplay outside tutorial without non-GE Proton versions.
Works very well, same as the native build (though that one has some quirks related to Steam that the proton version doesn't).
Make sure to use OpenGL on startup, as the recommended DirectX option will always crash right as you start it.
