Ran part of the tutorial after not having played for quite a while (last time on Win). Didn't notice any diff. in perf. compared to Win.
as others have said "You only need media foundations if you want to see a video on how an item works" - I've tried installing media foundations (and got rid of the warning) but so far didn't get videos to work (it seems that there's a "coming soon" notice on all the items I've tried). I'll probably not put any more time into getting videos to work, and since the bit of tinkering I did made no real difference (and isn't really necessary) , I'll post this as a standard report.
Only did a quick test to check if/how I could get it to run. Slight tinkering required: switch to an older Proton verion (6.3-8).
used the .jar application available here: https://github.com/Linux74656/SpaceEngineersLinuxPatches to apply all the necessary fixes. Important: to install dotnet 4 etc., I had to force the use of Proton 4.x. After applying all the necessary changes I switched back to Proton 6.3-7 to play the game.
Haven’t played in a long time, but I was able to get the game running with a bit of tinkering, I could continue my old (windows) save files, although sometimes the world crashes on load (but I had that happen under windows, too) and even the mods I used in the windows version were present and (so far) functional under proton.
