Works out of the box. Picked up my wheel no problem. Overall better performance than Windows. All mods and settings imported manually.
Proton-GE is not necessary. Standard Proton/Wine works, I just happen to run all my games on GE. Also has the exact same out of the box experience on my Framework Laptop 16 (AMD CPU & GPU, Archlinux zen Kernel) without any tinkering.
Copying your game configuration (settings, mods, etc.) from Windows to Linux for this game works flawlessly.
(Optional) Use the Vulkan Experimental version of the game no matter what OS or system you play BeamNG on: The performance gains are insane compared to the aging D3D11 build.
Game was only playable once, crashed, and now displays a black screen then proceeds to crash after 120 seconds.
I had to manually execute the .exe file. When you press play on Steam, a WINE files popup window will appear and nothing else happens unless you select the game's .exe in the binaries folder.
Issues seem unrelated to my system: my Framework laptop 16 (AMD CPU & GPU, Arch KDE Wayland) suffers from the same issues.
Small artifacts with water reflections + lagspikes (laptop gets confused on wether to use the iGPU or the dGPU and keeps switching midgame. Somehow only does that on Xorg, Wayland fixed all of the above)
Fullscreen works half the time. Black screen.

This game doesn't like KDE Plasma Xorg. Works flawlessly with Plasma Wayland.
Game runs on the CPU's iGPU rather than the dedicated RTX 3060 Mobile no matter which launch arg I put in. I would need to translate OpenGL to Vulkan or find a way to make it use the dGPU.
Multiplayer is as bad as on Windows. Can't blame that on linux though.
Since I dualboot Nobara + W11 I needed to do the compatdata thing to make it work.
Works Entirely Flawlessly. All you need to do is enable any Proton of your liking and there you go !
__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_icd.json
The launch args are only here because I have a Gaming laptop with an iGPU. If you're on desktop or manually disable the Intel / AMD iGPU, this is unneeded for the game to work.
