Although the game presents some issues, we can play it with two conditions: less than 20 civs and anti-aliasing disabled.
When I play with more than 20 civilizations, lots of objects (planets, resources, ships, shipyards, anomalies, etc) juns don't appear on the map.
Some freezing in the beggining of the turn (more often on large maps). It' about 50% of the Windows version performance.
The game eventually crashes on loadings.
Proton-5.9-GE-5-ST GloriousEggroll
Likewise Proton 4.2, when I play with more than 20 civilizations, lots of objects (planets, resources, ships, shipyards, anomalies, etc) just don't appear on the map (when I play with 21 civs, a ship disappears; with 22, artfacts disappears, and so on).
Galciv3 version: 4.0.1.0 (all DLCs minus Worlds in Crisis and Villans of Star Control: Origins)
Runs well and stable at 50 fps (not 60, I don't know why), with v-sync disabled (using NVIDIA adaptative v-sync), 1920x1080, Preset High, anti-aliasing 4X (is working fine now).
Also works with Proton-5.11-GE-3-MF and Proton-tkg 5.14.r0.gb71d588d.
Regular Proton (5.0.9 now) still unable to run the game (it crashes on start).
A local game runs well.
When I choose Multiplayer -> Internet Game, the game freezes.
The game runs at stable 60 fps, without ocillations, at 1920x1080, AA 6x, Texture-Shading-Lightning-Water-Shadow detail all high, AF16x, game v-sync off (I used NVIDIA adaptative v-sync via MangoHUD).
Although I am unable to log in from time to time and it fails to render the character, the game runs well.
Using Vulkan render, sometimes the game does not renderize the character - I believe that happens because the shadow textures, because when I change the shadow quality, it works. I have tested DX in the past, but the performance is worse than Vulkan.
Sometimes, I can't log in to play online. I don't know if it happens because of Proton or the game server.
The game runs locked in 60 fps, with few oscilattions (I turned off the game v-sync and use NVIDIA adaptative v-sync via MangoHUD). The XBOX gamepad works well.
Works well
Runs at 60 fps locked (using NVIDIA adaptative v-sync via MangoHUD). The XBOX gamepad works well.
Very good!
The game runs smoothly and locked at 60 fps, 1920x1080, high texture and general details, AA 16x HQ CSAA, Dynamic Lights, Post Processing, Dynamic Shadows (all on), using NVIDIA adaptative v-sync via MangoHUD.
The launcher opens, but the game crashes just after opening.
The game performs well, running at 60 fps all the time (1920x1080, ultra, AA8X and AF 16X).
Updated DXVK (1.7.1)
I ran Skyrim with some mods (2K Textures, Immersive animations, Hairdos Renewal). I turned off the game v-sync for use adaptative v-sync via MangoHUD. The XBOX gamepad works well.
5.9-GE-5-ST GloriousEggroll
Also works with Proton 5.11-GE-3-MF and Proton-TKG-5.14.r0
Runs flawlessy!
The game runs locked at 60 fps (using NVIDIA adaptative v-sync via MangoHUD).
The game needs the Dotnet 2.0 to open Launcher correctly. I used the tutorial posted by Akayoo, but with some differences:
1 - I used the Proton 5.0.9 (I did not change to 4.2);
2-3 - I used the system winetricks (updated, using winetricks --self-update); - protontricks also works;
4 - The same;
5 - Not necessary;
6 - I changed the command line for WINEPREFIX=/home/user/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/47890/pfx/ WINE=/home/user/.steam/steam/steamapps/Proton\ 5.0/dist/bin/wine64 winetricks dotnet20" (to not pollute the prefix) - protontricks also works (protontricks 47890 dotnet20);
7 - I changed the command line to WINEPREFIX=/home/user/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/47890/pfx/ /home/user/.steam/steam/steamapps/Proton\ 5.0/dist/bin/wine64 NetFx64.exe and repair the winetricks dotnet20 installation (that is 32 bit);
8 - It is unnecessary. The Launcher runs on Windows 10.
That's it!
I ran the game with maximum quality at 1920x1080. It locked at 60 fps (using MangoHUD NVIDIA adaptative-vsync).
