Crashes too often to be viable for native
the native version very frequently causes a kernel panic for whatever reason.
Unless a workaround is found for the crashing or the crashing is fixed, the game is almost unplayable because it also seems to be random when the game would crash as well.
Works like it's native
Some of the in-game proximity voice chat every now and again stops being omni-directional, usually going through a door fixes it
when I played the game with a group of friends I actually ended up forgetting that I was even on linux, it works so well out of the box.
worked fine out of the box, but not fully yet
upon launching the game all install scripts and pre-launch operations worked flawlessly. I was unable to get to the main menu due to the beta not being running yet. I'd expect this to work though, it's using the same engine as monster hunter rise and monster hunter world
visuals wont load
under the beta yes this does allow me to load into the game and everything, but the game is 100% black, I can still move, I can still hear things ,but it's all black
For now you need to disable the upscaling or otherwise there wont be any video output at all, other than some graphics settings being whacky it works fine
I'm not sure if it's because it's a beta or if it's a bug with linux support, but sometimes certain shaders would flicker
No matter what even on the lowest graphics settings the FPS would stay hovering at a constant 30 even when v-sync was turned off and the framerate was uncapped
it seems to be that anything to do with networking gives the game a good chance to crash, the game freezes and I have to force close it, I can still hear movement, I can still hear sound effects. Sometimes when the game freezes it also completely crashes the whole OS, causing what appears to be a kernel panic.
overall the whole experience is great. Only issue is the bugs to do happen i'm not sure if it's a result of the early linux support given by proton or if it's because it's currently in beta and doesn't quite have most of the bugs ironed out yet.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dstorage=d,dstoragecore=d" gamemoderun %command%
Lots of crashing during hunts, seems to happen randomly, tried a bunch of launch options but the only thing that seems to change is when the game crashes. There doesn't seem to be any errors in the logs that happens when the game crashes (apart from when it locks the whole computeR)
I have streamed both this Beta and the 1st Beta, in both these betas the same crashing issue has been observed
WINEDLLOVERRIDES=dinput8=n,b gamemoderun %command%
in some scenes multiple different things would either flicker or deform but only for a few seconds
every now and again the FPS would dip to 0 then be playable again
for some unknown reason the game would crash and cause a kernel panic forcing a restart. I've tested this with and without the launch options for loading mods (and also with and without mods) and sometimes it would kernel panic. I'm not entirely sure why.
As long as the FPS is capped for certain high intensity scenes like the first encounter with Zora Magadros the game shouldn't crash too often.
