Once I reach the in-game Microsoft login screen, the following error message pops up in a separate window:

Pressing either option on the error window closes the game, but since the game is still responsive after the error window pops up, I can ignore it and continue the login process, although I'm not able to see the location of my cursor. Once I successfully login, the game freezes completely. Restarting the game will still open the separate error window, but the login screen is skipped and I proceed to an initial setup loading screen. The progress bar is extremely slow, giving the impression that it's stuck, and the accompanying cinematic also freezes at some point, but if I continue to let the game run, the progress bar will very slowly fill up. After approximately 20 minutes of waiting, the "loading language" & "activating packages" portions of the initial setup are complete, and at this point a second, identical error message pops up. The progress bar animation fully freezes, remaining at 51% on "loading world data". The music is still playing, but visually the game is completely unresponsive.
