Works well! I'm able to achieve about 55 FPS @ 1440p with *Ray Tracing* set to "High" and *DLSS* enabled.

Some decals---e.g., in-game posters or the markings on vault doors---are blurry and distorted when playing at resolutions over 1080p. I was able to restore decal fidelity by lowering GPU VRAM consumption---e.g., lowering the game's rendering resolution and/or performance settings---and then restarting the Steam client and re-launching the game.
When enabling DLSS---a feature limited to nVIDIA RTX-class GPUs---decals are blurry/distorted if the user changes the internal rendering resolution from the resolution automatically selected by the game---i.e., after checking the box for DLSS, the game will change the rendering resolution; Do not change the resolution picked by the game after turning DLSS on.
Plays just fine on Linux
Expect to experience identical gameplay issues as if running on Windows—e.g., frametimes momentarily dip during in-game shader compilation.
Just downloaded the SteamOS 3.4.6 update, which upgrades the RADeon Vulkan (RADV) driver version to 23.1.0_devel
. I was able to get 20-30 FPS after tuning down the video settings. Game is playable with ray-tracing effects—my settings traded off visual fidelity to get the framerate floor up to 20 FPS.
Another observation was that, overall, Quake II RTX looked darker on my Steam Deck's built-in display when compared a UHD TV or a FHD monitor. I ended up adjusting the in-game settings to get the Steam Deck to look like my other displays.
Finally, IMHO you'll definitely want to create a custom controller profile or search for a community profile. At a minimum I'd recommend mapping: Ⓐ → space
, Ⓑ → enter
, Ⓧ → /
[changes the position of the ray-traced "sun"], and the menu button (≡) → escape
. There are many other things that need mapping—e.g., switching weapons and items—but should be enough to play the first level.

Needed to modify launcher.sh
to accept "Launch Options" from Steam for the game to launch when using the FlatPak version of Steam. See also: "Edit 2" in issue #897 for the Steam flatpak offered through flathub.

On first launch of the game, my save data was not loaded. I had to use Vampire Survivors' Data Recovery menu to "Load Last Run". Afterwards, Steam's "Cloud Sync" worked as expected.
- Options → Data Recovery → Load Last Run
I received a "missing executable" error from Steam. Had to opt into Vampire Survivors' public beta for the game to run in Linux.
