Super good experience, only issue was with origin account not proton
When origin started I logged in with my ea origin account instead of steam (my mistake), solved it later loggin in to help in web with steam account using same email as ea origin account and then got option to link both accounts. After that everything worked. Surprisingly good exprience with performance using gamemoderun %command% on launch options with a cheap Radeon RX550 2Gb and old FX8150. To not have any lags only had to lower a little bit the resolution but was playable anyway in Full-hd. My system is fedora 35 and used steam from rpmfusion (enabled automatically from software).
Failed to initialize BattlEye Service: Driver Load Error (31).
Seems this issue is related to this: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/30
Game doesn't starts there is error about missing gstreamer decoder video/x-ms-asf
46442.710:0036:0072:err:gstreamer:unknown_type Could not find a filter for caps: "video/x-ms-asf" 46442.710:0036:0037:err:gstreamer:gstdecoder_init_gst Failed to play stream. 46442.710:0036:0071:err:gstreamer:watch_bus decodebin3: Your GStreamer installation is missing a plug-in. 46442.710:0036:0071:err:gstreamer:watch_bus ../../proton/gst-plugins-base/gst/playback/gstdecodebin2.c(4679): gst_decode_bin_expose (): /GstBin:bin3/GstDecodeBin:decodebin3: no suitable plugins found: Missing decoder: Advanced Streaming Format (ASF) (video/x-ms-asf)
Should this be included in the steam runtime instead of failing if decoder not found?
Tested with flatpak that doesn't have option to install this decoder. Will test with native steam and this decoder installed.
Game doesn't starts
I tried WINED3D, with different proton version 4.11, 5.xx, experimental. But I was not able to run the game in any way.
Works well con native steam not actually in flatpak steam
It is only working on native steam, I have reported this on flatpak steam: https://github.com/flathub/com.valvesoftware.Steam/issues/737
Check this out to get it working on flatpak: https://github.com/flathub/com.valvesoftware.Steam/wiki#steam-play-games-do-not-start-for-me
After some tests with these settings: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/#runtime-config-options
I was able to get color, running DirectX with openGL:
Option to RUN the game:
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Works great on bazzite, just need to switch to KDE X11 as it is not working on wayland now
PROTON_USE_DXVK=1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 %command% -FastLaunch
Works great on bazzite, just need to switch to KDE X11 as it is not working on wayland now. Parameters to use DXVK helps to run it with vulkan and not with opengl to get better performance.
At the beginning the game installed successful, also origin launcher installed successful and game was running perfectly with no tweaks. But after some days Origin tried to update and then never started again.
After looking in the comments and reports in protondb, found this command:
rm -r ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1222670/pfx/dosdevices/c:/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/Origin
It fixed the issue, and the game started perfectly again with latest proton versions (6 and 7).
Looks like there are some issues with Origin updates yet.
Origin launcher updates breaking the launcher, had to remove Origin folder to get it working again.
You will need to remove Origin folder if origin gets updated, as shown in previous command. Hope so it could be better handled in the future.
Command to fix Origin launcher after a broken update of Origin:
rm -r ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1222670/pfx/dosdevices/c:/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/Origin
I changed the compatibility to Proton 5.13 and finally was able to open the game.
On flatpak steam works with latest community build of proton 6.3 20210506.
