Works and performs great on linux (performs is likely due to my hardware) There was slight issues with stutter when loading new areas, but it typically only lasted for about a second. If you can even classify that as a stutter.
As long as you lock the frame rate to 60 with the launch option and disable Vsync, You'll be fine.
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 %command%
As long as you lock the frame rate to 60 with the launch option and disable Vsync, You'll be fine. If you do not lock the frame rate to 60, with Vsync on your frame rate will lock to 30. When Vsync is off the game will stutter at high frame rates.
I do not know if anything higher than 60 would work. I didn't bother trying as I heard high fps on this game could break some physics.
The game works great and runs great on desktop and steamdeck (unsuprisingly) except for one caveat: The game has tiny stutters consistently when moving around. It doesn't happen with every step, but it does happen when walking around for a little bit.
Maybe an issue with loading areas? Probably an issue with the game rather than proton/linux.
WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY=8:0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7 taskset -c 0-7 mangohud %command%
Audio would randomly stop working after playing for a bit. Usually stopped working after a cutscene.
Crashing Occured during the beginning part of the game, very frequently. Haven't got any crashes since then however.
Native, works great
The native version works fine on linux, and I haven't noticed any issues with panning that many people seem to have.
If you use a large amount of mods, however, you may need to change the max map count with the command "sudo sysctl -w vm.max_map_count = 2147483642" (doesn't have to be that large, but I use it as its what valve uses for the steam deck.)
If you wan't to make it permanant (set every boot), you can create a config file with the command "sudo nano /etc/sysctl.d/99-GameCompat.conf" and put "vm.max_map_count = 2147483642" within it.
You can read more about vm max map count at the arch wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Gaming#Game_compatibility
Naitve, works great.
Native version works great. make sure to use the open starbound mod for more features and bug fixes! (also has native linux support)
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dsound.dll=n,b" %command%
Command for Mod enabler mod on nexus, not needed if not using that mod. The game worked fine and performed great with max RT on AMD! and LINUX for that matter! Probably about 100+ fps
