The first time I tried to launch it with the default settings it only got to the logo window and stuck there. With other versions of proton (5, 6, GE, Expiremental) a similar behaviour was observed. After desperately switching to the defaults again and rebooting an update appeared in the steam menu. The game finally started and I could make it to the gameplay.
The game crashes quite often. Usually it takes a 3 or so rounds (Double or Nothing playmode) to suddenly crash with no particular reason.
I don't know what the reason was for the initial problems, but other than that the game is more then playable.
Coud not load my save from cloud. Not sure if this is the problem of proton of GD itself.
After hours of tinkering and trying out different versions of Proton (Proton 9, Proton 5, Proton GE, Proton Expiremental and the AUR version) it finally worked perfectly after I chose Proton 6-8. Not sure why this is the case, nor if this is a common fix, but if you are facing the same problems as I did (game crashing immediately after start) it is worth trying. Also, if you have a dual boot setup with games located on a partition accessible by Windows and Linux, it is worth trying to move the game to the Linux partition (at least it reduced the number of errors in the log files for me), still I am not sure if it actually did something in the end.
