It runs, but the frame rate feels notably lower than is reported by Steam, pales in comparison to running natively on Windows

Despite the Steam FPS counter reading 120 FPS, the game felt more like 30-40 FPS
Tried using GE with some of the launch params other people have mentioned but none improved the performance of the game

Played through the entire main scenario without any issues and no tinkering, consistently high frame rate with no noticeable performance hit

Performance:Slight Performance Problems
Seemed to be a lower frame rate / drops compared to running natively on Windows. Had to drop settings from high to medium to have comparable performance to Windows.
Using the default Proton in Steam the game felt very stuttery. The in game FPS counter indicated a high frame rate, but it felt really choppy. After using Proton-GE it was a lot smoother and playable.
