It was an absolute pain to make this work, GE-Proton9-27 is the only version of proton that wouldnt display this obscure error ("Fatal Error : code=b6535884887a0004 mess : Failed to initialize ID3D11Device.") and then abruptly close. And GE-Proton9-27 required a lot of tinkering to make the actual game work. I had to follow this set of instructions in github (https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/838#issuecomment-447379664) because the game would give me a black screen (with sound) otherwise. The guide involved taking certain dlls from a windows 7 install which was an absolute pain to extract. Wouldn't recomend this experience to anyone. It's probably easier to just emulate the game.
Works like an absolute charm.
Works really well, no tinkering required. The games performance is amazing which is to be expected given my hardware. The game picked up my xbox controller instantly. No issues whatsoever, its the ideal linux experience. It even picked up my demo save file first try. Fully recommend.
