Without any tinkering, it would open a screen of hardware detection and close, but with the wined3d flag it worked perfectly.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
When I tried to launch the game at first using only proton, it would load, then open a popup screen saying it was going to detect my hardware and set the settings accordingly, then the game would close. I then added the PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% flag and it opened and worked perfectly. The only issues I've had since are issues from the game itself.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command% -skipintro -force-d3d9
When launching without any tinkering, the game freezes at the starting screen. To fix this, I just disabled Steam Overlay and added the launch options.
I've seen people adding these and more to the game, but be careful, there are many launch options that could lose you performance, such as WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY
, PROTON_NO_ESYNC
and PROTON_NO_FSYNC
. Only use them if necessary or, of course, if you know well what you're doing.
"-skipintro" may not be necessary, but you might want to add it.
The game also worked for me when using PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
, but it was a bit more laggy.
Rockstar Games Launcher doesn't start
When trying to launch the game, it pops up a message saying that it wasn't able to launch and the only options are "Ok" and "Help", the latter doing nothing. Pretty weird since it worked OOTB on my dekstop with Fedora 41. No clue what causes this.
Works surprisingly well. This is terrible news, I've lost three nights of sleep playing this game already.
When starting the game initially, country colors and borders where not showing, this was fixed by changing the renderer on the Paradox Launcher to OpenGL.
Works perfectly out of the box.
I was pretty surprised, but I just clicked play and it worked out of the box.
