When i access Control Panel (P) or the Map (M) and get back (ESC), the screen becomes darker. It also happens with Manage Fuel screen. To get back to normality i should get close and look to any player builded block.
Very slow FPS after one hour of play. Should use "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" (without quotes). This code doesn't work with Proton 6.3-4 or Experimental, just version 5.13-6. But game runs in Proton 6.4-4 and Experimental, but there will be issues with FPS at some moment.
When i access Control Panel (P), the Map (M) or talk to vendors, the screen becomes darker. It also happens with Manage Fuel / O2 screen. To get back to normality i should get close and look to any player builded block. Just happens in Empyrion 1.5.x, and just when using PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1. In Empyrion 1.4.x doesn't happens.
Severe FPS drops after one hour of play. Should use "PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%" (without quotes) in launch options. But if you use this launch option, there will be a graphical issue in Empyrion 1.5.x but not in 1.4.x.
Perfect. never played in multiplayer, always single, but it's perfect, high playable. FPS ~60.
MANGOHUD=1 MANGOHUD_CONFIG=font_size=20,cpu_stats=1,cpu_temp=1,gpu_stats=1,gpu_junction_temp=1,gpu_mem_temp=1,ram=1,vram=1,fps=1,frame_timing=0,time,time_no_label,time_format=%R,position=top-left gamemoderun %command%
You don't need any initialization option. I have used mangohud and gamemoderun, but don't need. I have tested in many Protons: 8, 9, Experimental, and GE-Proton9 (.17 up to .21). All them have the same performance. About graphics, i have Windows 10 in dual boot and i can same FPS is exactly the same. This game is poorly optimized, it is not a problem with Linux, Proton or the hardware. To be able to play with the BEST graphics, set Screen Space Reflections, Terrain Tesselation and Global Illumination to OFF. You can leave Shadow Quality at LOW.
MANGOHUD=1 MANGOHUD_CONFIG=font_size=20,cpu_temp,gpu_temp,ram,vram,frame_timing=0,time,time_no_label,time_format=%R,position=top-right gamemoderun %command%
FPS 108 on Linux and FPS 120 on Windows, graphics at High in both. I have Windows in dual boot.
The adjustments I made at startup were only to enable MANGOHUD, which does not affect performance. I also added "gamemoderun" (sudo apt install gamemode), but don't know if it affects anything at all.
