I did play the through the whole game without issues. On any recent version of Windows it doesn't work reliably.
The way these graphical glitches are with the current version I wouldn't recommend playing it under Linux.
There are graphical glitches that look like differently coloured flashing lights on borders of objects with water behind them. It's not there bright daylight, but the darker it is the more intensive this glitch gets.
With the Kickstarter demo I would have said it's fine, because the graphical only happened under water although they were much more intensive.
Since switching to MESA driver (from AMD-GPU-PRO ) no obvious issues anymore.
Installation of mf-install fixes the Unreal typical video playback issue and then the game is running perfectly fine.
For me it also on launches into a black screen.
Tried PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1, PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 and -onethread to no avail.
Have only started playing under Linux with the EP5 and replayed EP1. One crash in EP5 (that didn't cost me any progress) and no issue else.

The MediaFoundation codec pack that comes integrated in the custom Proton version I use is crucial for the video playback in the game to work, which is actually required for the game to even start properly.
Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF GloriousEggroll
MediaFoundation is part of that custom Proton version I was using. You might getting the same results by installing it manually instead of using a custom Proton version with it (a versions that ends with MF) from GloriousEggroll.
Every once in a while, not too often, there are these brief lag spikes. These spikes freeze the game for under a second while the mouse input is making a big jump into the direction it was moving this moment (if it was actually moving). But I'm pretty sure I had the same problem under Windows7 too and this is not affecting game play too badly (because it is not a Shooter or Action game). A faster CPU might likely fix that.
I did play the whole game without any serious issues.
Only in the so called Documentary Database the font in the drop down menus looks a bit weird, but when moving the mouse cursor over the entries they are perfectly readable.
