I had one crash, prompting me to switch to Proton Experimental. This has since fixed all crashing for me.
Performance can be iffy and varies wildly based on hardware. Two computers with almost identical hardware can have very different experiences with this game on Windows, I'd imagine it's the same on Linux.
The Sims 4 runs better on Linux than it does natively running on Windows. All DLCs, Online features, and common mods work as expected.
The game has some performance issues, however they are expected. The game has performance problems on all officially supported platforms due to an unknown engine issue. It is possible to reduce this by disabling online features in the settings and disabling V-Sync. This issue doesn't affect all players and it is currently unknown why this happens (according to an EA Answers HQ thread).
Additionally, gamemoderun
improves performance on some level but it's not necessary.
