Launcher/launcher.cfg - "dx11": "..\bin\bg3.exe"
Large, out of place pieces of geometry occasionally appear, fixed by saving and loading
Steam invites didn't work, but you can find the lobby in the server browser if you filter for friends only and join that way
Launching the game with Proton doesn't work. The Vulkan version crashes instantly, the DX11 starts loading, but always crashes at 50%. Tried many versions of Proton, as well as a multitude of community suggestions, nothing worked.
Interestingly, the Vulkan version worked fine when launched with wine, but with no online functionality. I recommend using a fresh prefix.
So I installed the Windows version of Steam with wine, and created a symlink to the game in the library so I don't have to download it again. The launcher doesn't work because of a .NET 6.0 issue, but --skip-launcher can be added to the launch options. This launches the DX11 version by default, so you need to edit the launcher config to trick it into launching the Vulkan version. After that, the game works fine.
-displayindex 1 -novid -nojoy
Random green spots on weapons in inventory
Occasionally drops to ~15FPS for a few seconds at the start of a round
Takes very long to launch (2-5 minutes), and 9 out of 10 times it crashes before getting into the main menu. No more crashes after that. There is a workaround for this though:
- Delete/rename the /csgo/panorama/videos folder (I recommend backing it up)
- Launch with -novid
Once you get the game to launch, it's comparable to (or better than) playing on Windows.
No audio out of the box, after setting audio=pulse and installing lavfilters702 it works
audio=pulse and install lavfilters702 to fix missing audio
Works fine with Proton, with native fullscreen didn't work, and mouse was broken, only keyboard worked for input
Some objects flash randomly
Audio starts at full volume for about half a second regardless of the game's settings
