I've play with my friends which uses Windows platform for gaming and I've good experience on Linux gaming. No crashes, stable, great entertainment with this game.
If you want play with someone who uses Windows please remember you need to use proton, because native version of Borderlands 2 GOTY is different then version for Windows users. Developers didn't release patches for the game on Linux.

I've used custom Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF with default version from Steam, game didn't run.
A lot of ppl have this same problem when it is first start the game. You can stuck on the one of the first mission called: "Watch monitor". To fix that problem is required use two scripts:

That script help also in the later stages of the game.After that everything works properly.
Please remember before you install script turn off you Steam.
When you change map, textures loading and the game for a little while tug.
Game runs very well, perhaps this same will be on Windows.
Cannot turn on HDR in settings, the game didn't detect my TV. There isn't so important, only for information.
Good experience for someone who want play on Linux, this game has my recommendation. GAME ON!
Sometimes audio is desynchronized with display. It was rarly, maybe two or three times in my game.
Max Payne on Linux, better experience then Windows
This is much better experience than on Windows 10. Fully playable tittle on Linux. This is solution for everyone who have any problems with compatibility on Windows, just try it run on Linux ;]
Max Payne 2 on Linux, very well experience.
Everything works well, Linux and steam with proton it is the best solution for someone who wants play this game. No any problems.
My conclusion is simple, works. If someone not expect 60fps everywhere, it can take have fun and spent nice time in the game.
Sometimes when something explodes and dynamic scenery light changed.
After I change DX11 to DX12 game crashed everytime in random situation. If stay in DX11 everything is OK.
I used custom Proton-5.6-GE-2, that fixed problem with loading screen which stuck, and no more game crush in cut scenes.
