By default, in-game animations and opening/credits movies do not play. Animations can be fixed; in-game movies cannot easily be fixed.
Tinker Steps:Custom Proton: GE-Proton7-42, protontricks
Using Protontricks, install only quartz (quartz.dll) under the "Windows components" section.

Can be fixed by switching to "Windowed" then back to "Fullscreen" from the Options menu.
Significant Bugs:
By default, in-game animations and opening/credits movies do not play. Animations can be fixed by manually adding in native quartz.dll using Protontricks; Attempting to add devenum or wmp to fixing the movies does not work and can break the animations.
