Extreme graphical glitches and performance issues native.
Only issue I have is tabbing out, returning back to the game as others have said somehow stops your ability to 360 rotate in game, but changing any of the video settings immediately fixes this. Played a good 6 hours, online, and LAN. All GFX up to the highest and runs smooth and fine, mouse acceleration is a bit bad, but bearable, occasional white flashes, but they are barely noticeable.
Native version does not work for MP (https://bit.ly/2lb7kxj) there was a windows update, but the developer for Linux (Aspyr) is working on a fix. In the mean time use Proton. I had to compeltely uninstall the linux version, and to force it to download the windows one I had to open the game properties in your steam library, and tick "force the use of steam play "4.11-5". Set launch options to "PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%". Run the game first (to generate the proton files) then follow this guide - https://bit.ly/2mayvZx (Note I had to change the directory because my steam is not in .steam, its on a different steam library folder, instead it is located at "/LibraryLocation/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata". Also note any tweaking of the engine.ini stops the game working, so only tweak GFX in game. Pretty solid performance otherwise.
Firstly to get the game to launch you have to rename the launcher, go to the game install folder and delete or rename the old "Launcher.exe" to "Launcher.bk", rename "BorderlandsGOTY.exe" to "Launcher.exe". Next for performance tweaks, in game turn off dynamic shadows they mess with the framerate badly, frame lock to 60FPS, borerless window (720 or 1080), I prefer Vsync off but if you have bad tearing turn it on at performance cost. Config tweaks, you need to locate the game proton folder, usually ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/729040/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Borderlands Game of the Year/WillowGame/Config/ Edit "WillowEngine.ini". Change "HasVoiceEnabled=True" to false (for MP lag). Replace "DefaultPostProcessName=WillowEngineMaterials.WillowScenePostProcess" with "DefaultPostProcessName=WillowEngineMaterials.RyanScenePostProcess". Set "MaxParticleResize=0" to 5000 (or higher if you want more particles). Lastly make sure in your Nvidia X server settings panel, powermizer is set to "Prefer performance"
At first default settings after clicking play on the launcher, it wasnt full screen but playable, changing this to the highest enabled me to view it at full resolution of the steam deck.
As steam notes the trackpad is not supported, however all other buttons work out the box.
Save was corrupting but not due to the steam deck or proton, but due to SHIFT servers.
SHIFT servers seemed to not want to connect, however this was the exact same issue on Windows as of 20/04/2022 6PM GMT.
Worked flawlessly
It worked out the box on the steam deck atm, loads the menu, however, the moment you click a button on the "press any key to continue" it crashes with a "Fatal error" no more specific then that. However selecting Proton 7.0-1 worked flawlessly. However currently it appears the SHIFT servers something weird is causing them to not connect on both windows and linux (confirmed with my laptop too running windows 10), so the multiplayer is broken due to shift servers not the steamdeck itself.
Works perfectly after copying xlive.dll (got from(http://download.gfwl.xboxlive.com/content/gfwl-public/redists/production/xliveredist.msi, installing on Windows, and copying the DLL from C:\Windows\SysWOW64\xlive.dll) then editing the Fallout.ini (located at /home/USERNAME/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/22370/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Fallout3/FALLOUT.INI) you need to add these lines under [General] bUseThreadedAI=1 iNumHWThreads=2 otherwise it will crash randomly. I have set my GFX to the highest it will go to, and played a good hour inside the vault, and just gotten out the vault and it works flawlessly so far after said tweaks.
Works flawlessly on forced experimental (otherwise doesn't launch). Was getting 55-60FPS on the beta version of the game.
Added rotation controls to radial menu.
Due to using beta branch it did crash occasionally but like once an hour.
The controls take some getting used to but the community has done a great job of adding a nice layout. The normal version of the game not tested. The beta version where the devs have improved performance like more then double.
Added rotational controls on the radial menu.
Due to beta branch had occasional crahes like once an hour.
The game on the beta branch where the devs did a lot of performance upgrades and optimisations improving frame rate by more then half. Plays at like 54-60FPS on the highest graphic preset.
Added F key
Changing UI scale seems to totally break the games graphics. Reinstall does not fix this, nor does removing of configs weirdly. It must sync with your save file in the cloud I guess?. Resetting is qutie challenging and requires knowledge of where things are, it will display stuff very feintly, if you amnage to press reset to default in the interface settings it fixes it.
You should not face any issues, UNLESS you mess with interface UI scale it seems.
Non steam game to the BepInEx.sh
Limit to 60FPS (game ran at about 45-50)
Very occasionally it will micro stutter on high graphics.
Mod support for BepInEx/thunderstorm works. If not no tinker needed.
