If you only want Spore (without DLCs), you might only encounter 1004 and 2000 errors.
I have posted this report under all 3 games (the original spore and the two DLCs).
My OS is Linux Mint 20.1 and this game isn't going to launch unless you fix errors 1004 and 2000. And, unless you don't want to play with DLCs, too, there are even more problems you are going to encounter if you're on Linux Mint 20.1 like me. Read below.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is terrible! My OS is Linux Mint 20.1 and this game doesn't seem to set up files properly or something, which makes it unable to play this game because every time you launch this DLC, it launches the original Spore instead. Let alone errors 1004 and 2000 that you will have to encounter before you even get to the start of the problem.
Due to my report being too long for ProtonDB to accept, I have posted my full report on Steam Discussions: https://steamcommunity.com/app/24720/discussions/0/5005182950316001925/
You will find it useful if you encounter several issues I encountered.
