Crashes after about 30 seconds of play
GE didn't work at all for me, including with the flags some people list.
Proton-Experimental let me log in and start the intro, but once I'm given control of the car the game crashes pretty consistently after about 30 seconds. It sort of hangs for a while with the music still playing then crashes. I tried with a variety of graphics setting, including trying to turn everything to its lowest option.
Curiously, the one thing that made the game run for slightly longer was driving really slow. Maybe there's some issue with loadtimes or some visual effect at higher speeds?
At any rate, unplayable for me for now. Refunded.
Proton-6.18-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
dotnet472
I just wanted to add to Ort's report that mods definitely run better with dotnet472 installed. For instance, MCM would hang the game on load without it, and BannerPersistance would crash the game on load. With dotnet, they load as expected.
I'm finding that not every mod works, but if you're playing modded, "protontricks 261550 dotnet472" is the way to go.
Additionally, I had to revert my Proton version to 4.11 (vanilla) to get dotnet to install. Then I changed my Proton version back to 6.18 (GE).
If the dotnet install gives you issues under proton 4.11, delete your prefix folder ("261550") and start fresh. It takes a long time to install dotnet4.0-4.72, so I also made a backup copy of the prefix folder after it finished, because I never want to do that again.
No write permission per installer?
I tried various versions of vanilla proton and glorious eggroll. While attempting to do the initial install it said I didn't have enough diskspace. I clicked install anyways as advised elsewhere it should work anyways. It still didn't work and threw an error that I didn't have write permission for the directory, which I do.
I gave up after about 30 minutes of trying different things. Maybe it's because I'm doing the install via steam to another drive/partition/mount-point? Who knows? I give up though.
Works great out of the box.
Just used the latest proton (currently Proton Hotfix). No issues.
