I had some issues at first, the update reboot loop happened. I deleted the file update patcher and it started to work fine.
Completely broken on 1.5
removed "PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 MANGOHUD=1 gamemoderun %command% --launcher-skip -skipStartScreen" and was able to launch the game, change settings, DLSS no longer working, and when I am about to start playing, I hit space and it crashes and then makes me send a report.
after first launch added these back PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 MANGOHUD=1 gamemoderun %command%
deleted this folder ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1091500 from a couple places since I have a different drive for the games. Also had to play spotify in the background as everyone else is reporting. Had to start the game over and all my prior saves are gone.
just do this on your steam "set launch option" setting in your game and it works amazing

I did this in Pop OS to install protontricks, the instructions for other distros are also in the Readme file on Git for protontricks
in the terminal first install the depencies
"sudo apt install python3-pip python3-setuptools python3-venv"
After installing pip and virtualenv, run the following commands to install pipx for the current user.
"sh" "python3 -m pip install --user pipx" "~/.local/bin/pipx ensurepath"
Close and reopen your terminal. After that, you can install protontricks.
"sh" "pipx install protontricks"
at this point open steam, then in the terminal enter this
"protontricks 976730 win7"
let it finish, it will let you know when completed (I saw some errors about win32, just ignore it) once its back to the command line, launch your game as your normally would on steam and Voila!
