Normal Single player works pretty much all the time with Proton-Experimental / Proton-GE49, but sadly Multiplayer does not work with Proton. Knogle on Github is currently trying to merge a fix into ProtonGE. Until its done, you have to build your own Proton with his patches. Before putting in the effort of building it yourselves, check if it is already merged.
Knogle's merge request:

Knogle's patches I used:

Just read the Github Readme and go to "Building"and follow the steps.
Uplay / Ubisoft Connect is annoying as always. I had to start it up 3-4 times until it asked me if I want to "link" the game to my ubisoft account.
For the first couple of clicks in the main menu the Steam Deck Controller doesn't work. But after going in Settings and changing the controller to "Keyboard and Mouse (2 Buttons)" everything seems to work flawlessly.
With the new fix Dead by Daylight finally starts. But sadly bhvr added a server side block to all Linux Users. You'll just get disconnected when trying to start a game.
To get into the menus just try to copy ./DeadByDaylight/EasyAntiCheat folder into ./DeadByDaylight/Binaries/EGS
The Steamdeck controller is always player 1. And there seems to be a bug in the steam Input API that won't let you rearrange the controllers. Sadly that makes the game unplayable in a multiplayer couch perspective.
Game used to start, now it doesn't get past the bottom left banner
The Game used to work out of the box without any tinkering on Deck and on my PC. But yesterday an update or something serverside killed the support. Now it doesn't get past the bottom left banner.
Weirdly every other performance setting other then normal lags my game, even lower ones.
No issues with Linux, sadly the game is still buggy which is unacceptable if you bought it for $50.
Weirdly the game does not work with the the Steam flatpak version, but worked on the normal steam version.
