Once the tweak listed in other posts was ran in terminal, everything worked perfectly.
--skip-launcher
without the --skip-launcher, the system would not see my laptops main graphics card and instead used the internal Intel graphics
Maybe a non laptop system would not have this issue
Once changed to 7.0-2, worked perfectly.

Force the use of specific Proton 3.16-9 works perfectly.

I used Proton 5.0-3.
If you want to login to a 'wargaming' account, but leverage the steam client, you have to remove steam_api.dll and copy platform.dll and wgc_api.dll from the standalone client. Be sure to replace either 32 or 64-bit versions of .dll depending on your system.
