Runs great out of the box. Anti-aliasing disabled due to poor system performance. Comparable to Windows 10 performance on the system.
With protontricks it's easy to run the game. Just type in terminal "protontricks 105450 mfc42 winxp l3codecx corefonts" and it works afterwards. This PC handles the game only on lowest settings, but it's comparable to Windows 10 performance on the system.
U need to use "protontricks 105450 mfc42 winxp l3codecx corefonts" for the game not to crash. I had problems with setting graphics quality. Had to change it in XML inside the game files. Game runs fine.
Tested early campaign and skirmish. Performance is very good (indistinguishable from Windows). Tweaks needed: "protontricks 105450 winxp l3codecx mfc42" If you want to play with Asian Dynasties/Warchiefs you'll probably only need "protontricks 105450 winxp l3codecx" - It was enough to play the game with Asian Dynasties pack.
I'm yet to beat entirety of the campain. Until now I had the game crash two times unexpectedly.
You need to delete GFWL folder from the game and patch XLIVE (https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/576-bulletstorm-xlivedll/) with this. Just drop it to root directory. I also needed to use Wine D3D11 (PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%) as the game crashed just after splash without it.
I was able to get more battery with limited frame-rate to 30 and TDP to around 10W
Text is bit small in few places, added option to have a zoom on back buttons.
Works as well as on PC. I'd argue it's better handheld as you can pause/resume whenever you feel like it. Out of the box battery is good, I was able to get additional 30/40 mins with limited TDP and framerate.
Game will crash with default D3D11 settings, WINE_D3D11 fixes it. Works beautifully after that.
Game needs Wine D3D11, performance is good. Everything seems to work, although I didn't play it much.
