Only complaint I have is alt-tabbing anywhere but the title screen makes controls in the hub unresponsive (however in battle the controls work fine oddly). Other than that runs like native.
4.2-9 worked fine (a bit choppy), but 4.11-1 has much more noticeable improvements. For one, my game no longer freezes up upon the loading screen directly after the heist, and I now rarely get stuttering in areas with a lot of particles (like in gunfights). Overall, much better (this was after updating to latest kernel in Ubuntu as well)!
Like others said, the launch of the new Rockstar Game Launcher breaks the game. You can try out this: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/37 (some people got the game in a playable state), but I haven't found much success. Godspeed

Alt-Tabbing is finicky but if you run into problems when you go back in press F1 to disable recording (it enables itself for some reason when you tab back in).
With VSYNC disabled, performance is slightly worse than Windows but extremely playable.
All in all, if you previously had 'WINEDLLOVERRIDES=winedbg.exe=d' as a launch option for Steam prior to using Proton-4.21-GE-2, REMOVE IT, this version of proton takes care of multiplayer just fine.
Audio in Halo 3 Campaign/Forge/Customs is borked. Booted up a H2 campaign level and the audio worked perfectly so it's not just my MCC.
In H3 Forge upon start you continuously fire your AR despite not holding down LClick, when you go into Monitor mode the problem fixes itself
H2 and Halo CE still work great on my machine, but I've read from other ppl that Reach audio is borked too so oh well.
H3: ODST update borks the game, loads the splash art and then immediate fatal error.
Great stuff, slight audio problems and stuttering from time to time. No commentator
Audio stutters when in a MyCareer game, but is fine when in the hub or in Practice.
Game is definitely playable, slight stutter from time to time as others said.
Idk if it has EAC but online doesn't work.
Using Feline Fowlfor's instructions, I am able to start up the game and begin playing. However the game crashes randomly, from intervals such as 10 minutes up to an hour.
Besides these random crashes performance is not an issue.
If you choose to emulate a Virtual Desktop with winetricks, using Alt+Tab for Steam Overlay causes the game to immediately crash.
Proton-6.1-GE fixes this game completely and is now 100% playable under Linux. Thanks GloriousEggroll, very cool!
