Make sure to download the Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime in the Tools section on Steam.
Easy anti-cheat fails to fully launch. Opens and immediately closes. Main menu states "WARNING: Easy Anti-Cheat Disabled."
The Easy Anti-Cheat runtimes were recently added to Steam which provides the ability other games like Hunt Showdown to now be playable. Unsure why Marauders is not playable.
Be extremely cautious of this game. It previously worked on Linux only to have the ability to play revoked for over a year with the developers refusing to resolve the matter stating that they "do not supprot Linux at this time." Community members using Linux pleaded that we did not want official support, only for Linux players be enabled to play via Proton through EasyAntiCheat, but it fell on deaf ears. It seems this may be an incidental fix, and that the devs didn't specifically opt into Linux support. As such it's entirely possible that the ability to play could be removed yet again, so purchase at your own peril!
Great game that runs perfectly.
Some people suggest that using Proton 5.13-6 solves some issues but I didn't experience anything that warranted doing so myself.
I've played this on several distros and they've all worked perfectly.
The game actually works better on Linux than on Windows.
Usually when playing on Windows there's a bug which causes shadows not to appear if you're playing with Anti-Aliasing turned on. On Linux, due to Proton's translation of DirectX to Vulkan it actually fixes this bug. It's possible that there's some missing texture filtering, as I noticed a couple of textures seemed to have a very thin stripe effect when I looked closely but that may have just always been how the texture looked.
