Game audio brakes discord or other audio input and output.
After putting game to background, game starts to allocate more and more ram, until PC crashes.
When I change gnome workspace, game crashes.
Considering I play on laptop, given performance (good settings - 60FPS) is ok, but stability (sometimes FPS dips) is poor. FPS drop during effects like explosions, ...
For now I can say, pretty good experience, especially on my HW, which is business laptop with almost no cooling (1 poor little fan). With FSR I was able to play this game at 60 FPS (video preset - "good") without fan turning on. There is space for improvement, optimizing effects, ... I'm glad that it's playable, something I couldn't say before a year.
After some amount of time after game started game crashes.
On 1st launch game started and I was able to play cca 1 minute, then game crashed and I was no longer able to lunch game.
Doesn't launch.
I had to tinker with settings and I sacrificed a lot of time by trying to make this game run (on my HW).
Windowed mode crashes game.
Game crashes when you move beyond some zone. When I was drifting on field without moving far away, I could play game for long time. But I found this review and gave it try, it eliminated crashes and that was my 1st time I could turn off game manually (because it didn't crash :D).
- When you try to launch this game, Steam has to be in windowed mode, in full-screen mode game just wont start.
- BTW my friend switched back to Windows because of this game.
(I use Fedora 35, but ProtonDB shows just Linux)
Multiplayer just works, game automatically starts in multiplayer.
Since proton 7 and my switch to Wayland everything runs well even on my GPU 1060 (Pascal). When I was using proton 6 I was experiencing some crashes, but now everything runs seamlessly, great improvemnt.
Works perfectly, but rendering needs to be set to DirectX 11, otherwise game will not launch
What I thought I was supposed to do
So, I downloaded the game, and entered single player, but game crashed, so I tried multiplayer, same result. Then I switched to Proton 5.0, and I got error: Unable to locate launcher, so I thought this is caused by Proton, it showed it wasn't, and I switched back to Proton 5.13.
What I did to undo my mistaken thoughts
Then I opened game folder and renamed PlayGTAV.exe and renamed it to other name and copyed from launchers RockstarLauncher.exe to game folder and renamed it to PlayGTA.exe, next I hit play button in Steam and continued through launcher, after launcher threw some error, I removed RockstarLauncher from root of game folder and renamed the original PlayGTAV.exe to its name.
Result
Than I started the game via steam and set rendering to DX 11, after this I was able to fully enjoy GTA 5 on the best kernel in this universe.
What I should have done
I should have installed game, run it using proton 5.13, launched the game, and set rendering to DX 11.
